Gerry was a professional footballer between 1982-1988 playing for Shrewsbury Town, Cardiff City and Torquay Utd, as well as representing England at U18 level. He is now a top youth coach with a UEFA B Licence.
He wants players to develop as a player and a person and learn so that they can play at the highest standard possible. He believes that being at the IFA gives him the opportunity to coach young players who want to be professional footballers.
Gerry would advise any young player to have the confidence to try new skills, do not be afraid to make mistakes and learn from these mistakes to make you a better person/player.
He’s been married for 28 years with 2 children aged 27 and 21. Both children have been involved as professional footballers and his eldest is now a soccer coach in Kansas, USA and youngest is on a soccer scholarship in New Jersey, USA at Rider University. Gerry’s hobbies are golf and walking.
